Personal Learning Space

Self-directed learning can be problematic, if the student is forming the structure and content of their own learning, they can be bias on what they learn and how they learn it. Circumstances are to be considered when looking at how and what we learn as they are what lead us into our exploration and reflections. (Smith, 1996) This is why it is important for Educators to teach “learners how to direct themselves through information” (Pew, 2007) and to relate what they are learning to their own experiences. By doing so, students will gain motivation which will allow them to use their self-direction and efficacy.
