The Online Learning Space

A digital/online learning space is one of endless possibilities. Teachers in NSW can constantly update themselves and their teaching strategies. The department of education in NSW provides all teachers and support staff with endless amounts of optional Online Professional Development. If a teacher feels they need more assistance in a certain area of their teaching, they can log on and search for specific professional development subjects. This is incredible as teachers can access this information at the click of a button and can complete learning in their own time focussing on subjects relevant to them and their classrooms. By strengthening their own knowledge and “keeping up” with the latest information and strategies, teachers will be able to provide the best education possible for their students. Technology is a tool, used to assist in reaching education goals and outcomes (Koprowski, 2000) which opens opportunities for students to work collaboratively whether they are in a classroom or not (Google, 2020). Teachers can also easily work collaboratively by sharing information that assists in all learning stages. While technology can be extremely beneficial, there can be downfalls when using it; not all teachers are “Tech savvy” which means they may fall behind when trying to teach around technology-based subjects. There is also a lot of false information online which can hinder children’s education should they fall upon it.
